Directions from Chicago
- In Chicago, take I94 West
- As you approach Milwaukee, take the 894 Bypass in the direction of Fond du Lac
- Go straight onto Hwy 45 North
- Take Hwy 41 North to Fond du Lac
- Take Hwy 45 North toward Fremont
- Take 10 West toward Waupaca
- Take the 3rd Waupaca Exit, which is Hwy 54 West (don’t confuse this with the 2nd exit, which is Hwy 54 East)
- Turn Left and go under the overpass, heading west on Hwy 54. You are 2 miles from my house.
- You will drive past a hotel and a Mobil gas station/truck stop on the right
- You will drive past the Foxfire golf course on your left
- At this point all landmarks to watch for are on the left.
- You will see Otter Lake Drive
- You will see White Pines Lane
- You will see Hick’s Lane – start slowing down!
- Just after Hick’s, you will see an old white barn followed by a small ranch house.
- My blacktop driveway is right next to the ranch house. You will see a large black mailbox with my name across it.
- Turn left into the driveway and pull up. You will see the barn and farmhouse.
- If you pass Highland Lane, you just missed the turn
Directions from the Appleton airport
- Turn right out of the airport exit and follow the highway until you reach Highway 10
- Take 10 West toward Waupaca

Directions from the Twin Cities
- I94 East
- Exit Hwy 29 East (Green Bay, exit #52) just past Menominie
- Follow 29 East through Chippewa Falls
- Continue following 29 East to Wausau
- Merge onto US51 South (Green Bay/Stevens Point exit). I think it is also called I39.
- Take the WI-54 E exit- exit number 151- toward WAUPACA
Note: Don’t be fooled by the Hwy 10 Waupaca exit – go past Turn left onto Hwy 54 East
- Take Hwy 54 about 20 minutes or so and you will cross into Waupaca County
- Look for a sign on the right that says Hartman Creek State
- Now you are within a couple miles.
- Keep your attention on the right – the left is totally meaningless at this point.
- Look for a sign that says Smith Lane – slow down a little bit.
- Look for a sign that says Highland Rd slowwww down BIG TIME!
- Just a few feet, maybe inches, after Highland, you will see a big black mail box with my name on it. It’s one of those rural mail boxes (sleeps two if you work for the county!)
- Turn right at the mail box and you are on my black top driveway. It dead ends into my house
