About Us
John Sturm grew up in nearby Manawa. In 1991, after working as a boat captain and tour guide at Clear Water Harbor, he wrote the book, Stretching Waters: an Historical Guide to the Chain O' Lakes. The book won a merit award from the Wisconsin Historical Society, but more importantly, it solidified John's connection to the Chain O' Lakes and the warm, friendly community of Waupaca.
John's wife Paula also grew up in Manawa. They got married in June of 2005 and had their wedding reception right on the banks of Stretching Waters! Their beloved English bulldogs, Fonzie & Lucy, complete the family!
